Edward J. Joy is an attorney in Manchester, Connecticut. This is an unofficial page intended to provide a review of his services and to warn the public. These are my opinions formed as a result of several matters I have observed.
- Edward will lie to you about how long it will take to do something. For example, he may tell you multiple times over the course of a month that he will file something 'later today', 'tomorrow', or 'next week'. In reality, he will often delay for weeks at a time, each time saying he will do something that very day. This is, of course, a lie. Any attempt to give him time without contacting him will simply result in him placing your case at the back of the queue.
- Edward will lie to you even when he knows when things are at stake. For example, if you have a major event planned for next month contingent on resolution of your matter, he will repeatedly lie to you by reassuring you that it will be completed by then, up until the week of the event. It does not matter to him; he will lie until it becomes impossible to keep it up.
- Edward will repeatedly lie as to the actions he will undertake. For example, he may say that he will call the clerk for an update, but you will find, upon calling the clerk, that the clerk sent out a notice before the time he said he would call them requesting more documents he should have submitted.
- Edward will often fail to file necessary documents at all. For example, he may delay for over three months in filing a document that even a self-help guide will tell you must be filed as soon as possible.
- Edward will fail to correctly fill out court forms and abide by court rules. For example, he often fails to properly fill out every necessary part of a settlement agreement, resulting in denials and further delays.
- Edward is incapable of accurately transcribing information from court documents. Every single document you receive from him has a significant chance of a typo or error, sometimes material ones.
Edward J. Joy is not a competent attorney, and he is a liar. He will never admit fault when he engages in this behavior, and will engage in it repeatedly no matter how many times it occurs and no matter how urgent your need is for your matter to be resolved. His friendly demeanor is a cover for his penchant for incompetence and deception. I strongly suggest that you look elsewhere if you require an attorney for any matter, because his conduct may cause serious consequences for your legal matter, or at the very least a massive amount of delay.
